We think LSI/IH Portsmouth is a great place to work and we are proud to have employees from all walks of life! So many people here have interesting stories to tell, have been on fabulous adventures or have hidden skills and talents, and we think that is what makes this place so fantastic!
This week, we had the past, present and future Reception Managers all in one room, each of them with a fabulous story to tell…
Past Reception Manager: Elly Easey
Do you remember Elly? Elly started off at LSI/IH Portsmouth as a teacher before taking up the position of Reception Manager in 2013. Elly decided she wanted to go on an adventure, so left LSI/IH Portsmouth in October of 2017 and flew one-way to Perth in Australia with no real plan in mind! Elly bought a van and drove alone across the whole of Australia! She now lives in Bondi, and loves everything about her new life in Australia, particularly being able to swim every morning (although she can do that in Portsmouth – it’s just not as warm!)
We were so grateful that Elly came to visit us this week and tell us stories of her adventures. We are so proud of her for following her heart although we still miss seeing her happy face in reception every morning!
Present Reception Manager: Sophie Burgham
Sophie is our current Reception Manager and like Elly before her, Sophie has been absolutely fantastic. Along with being a fabulous Reception Manager, Sophie is also a freelance illustrator and loves to be creative. We are all very sad as today is her last day with LSI/IH Portsmouth. She is moving to London to be a designer at Hearst magazines – how cool is that? She will be working on designing the layout artwork and image selection for Red Magazine and Good Housekeeping. The offices are in Leicester Square so she will be very central!
Sophie said that although she is excited about her new job, she is so sad to be leaving LSI/IH Portsmouth and she is going to miss all the lovely students so much. She said that meeting all these fantastic, interesting and fascinating students has been the absolute best part of her job and something she is very sad to leave behind. Good luck, Sophie, we will miss you so much!
Future Reception Manager: Amelia Gibson
Thankfully for us, we have an absolutely amazing replacement for Sophie. Does anyone remember Amelia? She has returned! Amelia used to work as Admissions Officer at LSI/IH Portsmouth almost 4 years ago, and after spending time living and working in Guangdong, China and then Glasgow, Scotland, she is very happy to be back in the sunny South of England!
Amelia spent that last few years teaching English as a Second Language in China and ran her own tutoring business in Glasgow for the university students to improve their English skills and integrate with the British culture. Amelia said she is very happy to be back at LSI/IH Portsmouth – it feels like coming home almost. And we are very happy she’s back too! We know she is going to do a fantastic job for the school and wish her all the best for her new role!
How fascinating are these three? We are so grateful to have such passionate, interesting and diverse people working here. After all, we believe it is the people that make our students experiences here so memorable. Do you have a favourite memory with Elly, Sophie or Amelia?
