This year we celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee from 2nd June 2022 to 5th June 2022 – the meant that we had 2 extra days off in the week (Thursday and Friday) to congratulate and celebrate the Queen’s 70th year on the throne.
Queen Elisabeth 2nd will be the longest reigning monarch in history, as it is very unlikely that anyone will have to opportunity to occupy the throne for as long as she has after her reign!
In order to celebrate the longevity of our Queen, we decided to party in classic British fashion by taking a BBQ to the great outdoors and playing some fun lawn games!
On Thursday 2nd June, we had an extra day off school, so our Student Services Manager, Amelia, gathered up any students who wanted something fun to do, and took them down to Southsea Common, which has lots of wide-open green space for relaxing. It was a really beautiful day, and the sun was smiling on them as they set up barbeque grills and prepared the food in the near the Southsea seafront.
The students had great fun preparing their food, and also sharing some of the culture with each other through food and drink! They all shared their food with everyone, and there was lots of different dishes to try!
In order to keep the fun going, Amelia organised some lawn games for the students to play. She introduced them to the game boules which can be played in teams or individually. The aim of the game is to get your coloured ball as close to the white ball as possible to win the game!
The students were excellent at this game and had so much fun playing and trying to take the win!
After playing boules the students opted to play some throw-and-catch games with a football, and had so much fun.
They were all very lucky with the beautiful weather and it was a great way to celebrate in the sunshine. We are almost too excited for the next bank holiday weekend now!
We always host lots of fun and varied activities on the social programme so make sure you check out what is on this month and sign up to participate!
